According to Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, managing director at Algerian government-owned oil company Sonatrach, Algeria will not stop supplying natural gas to Morocco despite reports to the contrary.

Kaddour said at a recent press conference held by Sonatrach, that this rumour started to spread because of a misunderstanding following Algeria’s announcement that it will increase the capacity of Medgaz, a pipeline that runs through Morocco to Spain.

“Why would we reduce or stop our supply to Morocco?” Kaddour asked, according to statements quoted by the Middle East Monitor. He explained that it is in Sonatrach’s interest to preserve the gas flow through this pipeline to increase its exports capacities.
