Government spokesperson Armando Artur, said that during the trip, particularly the administrative post of Namanhumbir in the district of Montepuez where one of the largest ruby deposits in the world is located, the delegation intends to investigate transparency in the extractive industry.

One of its main aims is to determine whether the share of 2.75% of the revenue collected by the state for the development of communities where there is extraction of mineral resources actually reaches Namanhumbir.

“We also want to know the level of participation and involvement of communities in defining their priorities and managing the 2.75%,” Artur said, according to Mozambican newspaper O País.
