Australian listed Pensana Rare Earths has appointed specialist mine developer Paradigm Project Management as its owner’s representative for its Longonjo neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr) project in Angola.
Paradigm is an African-based project management group with a highly successful track record of delivery of sub-Saharan African mining projects.
“Longonjo is an exciting project and fits well with our approach to move directly from PFS to FEED which significantly reduces the time and costs associated with reaching positive cash flow,” says Jeremy Clarke, director of Paradigm.
Paradigm will deliver the Front-End-Engineering-Design (FEED) and will work alongside the rare earth processing expertise in the Wood group and specialist test work laboratories ALS Metallurgy.
Ore reserve and mining consultants SRK Consulting is preparing an upgraded Mineral Resource Estimate due in September and Snowden is undertaking open pit mine optimisation, design and cost studies as part of the Bankable Feasibility Study due mid- October.
According to Pensana CEO Tim George Paradigm has been described as mine builders rather than study managers. “They will accelerate the delivery of the FEED which is in line with our intention to commence construction in the first quarter 2021,” says George.
