On 3 July 2024, Impala Platinum Holdings Limited (Implats or the Group) confirmed that the illegal work stoppage at the North Shaft of Impala Bafokeng’s BRPM operation in the North West province has been resolved and that employee attendance at the shaft is at normal levels.

The unprotected action began on 27 June 2024, involving predominantly members of the contractor workforce. Following constructive engagement between the management team and employee representatives, the issues were resolved. As a result, normal attendance levels were recorded at North Shaft from the morning shift of 4 July.

The company noted that, to safeguard the health, safety and security of its employees, those responsible for instigating the illegal strike action were interdicted from participating or engaging in any acts of violence, intimidation and harassment.

The Group says that it continues to engage with its employees and other key stakeholders to ensure safe and uninterrupted production is prioritised.
