The African Mining, incorporating Mining Mirror August 2024 issue saw so many key themes in mining collide in a jam-packed expose of innovation – whether on a human or technical level. Inspiration ultimately is what leads to innovation and change, and with the month of August being a month dedicated to women in South Africa, and September being a month of impact through expos – we celebrate the return of the beloved Electra Mining Africa to Nasrec and an over-border MTE trilogy expose in Zambia – we do indeed have a lot to talk about.

Face-to-face exhibitions support innovation

There is nothing like a face-to-face exhibition of innovative products and services to re-ignite inspiration, energy and ideation, with its traditional appeal to the senses being key! Our 2024 August issue set the scene for both events (https://joom.ag/MIyd). It is not always easy staying on top of the latest innovations in your field, but at Electra Mining Africa 2024, you will find all the latest cutting-edge technology on display, be able to attend presentations and seminars by trailblazers in the industry and meet hundreds of exhibitors across the areas of mining, electrical, automation, manufacturing, power and transport all in one place.

As an official media partner of Electra Mining Africa, our August 2024 issue will be available in hard copy at the event from 2–6 September, and we will also supply a daily newsletter for the entire week. The newsletters and the issue supports the Electra Mining Africa 2024 ‘every day, a theme a day’ concept, which reflects intertwined trends in industry, with a number of expert contributions discussing the key issues driving the industry currently. These themes are: sustainability, women and skills development, safety, technical advancement and innovation and – within the southern African context – localisation and beneficiation.

Over border excitement

Our sister company, MTE, will see its travelling exhibition trilogy tour hit Zambia in the third week of September. The tour has grown to include three showstoppers in the thriving copper belt – three consecutive expos within one week, starting with the Kalumbila Expo on 16 September, stopping off at Solwezi on 18 September and ending the tour on 20 September in Kitwe.

Be sure to attend these local and over-border expos, which offer a shop window of innovation, displayed in one area, enabling you an overview of what is out there to meet your current needs, rather than waiting for representatives to knock on your door. Visit our product and service review from leading innovators in mining, also available on our Electra Mining event page on the African Mining website (https://www.africanmining.co.za/electra-mining-2024/).
