The New Products & Innovations awards were celebrated last night at the Electra Mining Africa 2024 Exhibitor’s Function. Organised in partnership with the South African Capital Equipment Export Council (SACEEC), the awards celebrate remarkable ingenuity and outstanding levels of innovation.
Gary Corin, managing director of Specialised Exhibitions, Montgomery opened the evening saying, “I’ve been in the company nearly 30 years, and what you have seen out there over the past three days is the best that I’ve ever witnessed in my life. It’s a record, no matter what we use, 40 000 square meters in space, 950 odd exhibitors – 94% local, 6% internation. Over the last three days, 22 200 visitors versus 15 000 this time two years ago, have come to witness innovation in industry!”
Following through with its key sustainability theme, Electra Mining Africa chose to partner with Shoose Life this year. As official partner, the company will use proceeds collected for the event’s catalogue at entrances and visitor and exhibitor donations to supply children with quality school shoes. Over the first three days, the company has raised enough money to provide 16 000 pupils with shoes to get them to school comfortably. This initiative will go a long way to connecting our youth – the future of this country – with education as a tool to grow the economy, long term.
