The Sishen Airfield in the Northern Cape has been awarded gold status by auditing group Liston & Associates. Owned by Kumba Iron Ore, it serves as a strategic logistical hub for the company.

Measured against ICAO Annexure 14 Standards, the airport underwent its annual compliance audit led by the Liston & Associates Group to achieve safe flight and maintenance operations in all environments.
Based in Kathu, Northern Cape, the airport is a South African Civil Aviation Authority licensed facility, servicing Kumba’s logistical needs and the public’s transportation needs with flights to and from the Northern Cape, connecting the remote region to Johannesburg via direct flights.
Awarded by Liston & Associates’ Aviation Safety Awards committee, the airport was recognised with the Gold Aviation Safety Award for displaying high safety standards.
